I launched my restaurant marketing company ‘Louise Hitch Marketing Ltd’ in spring 2012. Since then I have been hard at it, working on lots of exciting and innovative projects in the restaurant industry.
Here’s a bit about me and my career so far…
I have spent the last 17 years working in the retail industry in restaurants and retail sales. I started out at the very bottom and have worked my way up. I have worked at the coal face as a waitress, sales associate, retail manager, restaurant manager, events manager, a marketeer and now also a nutritionist. I have been lucky enough to experience every aspect of some of the biggest brand names in the UK. From Gap to Harvey Nichols, Kurt Geiger to Zara, Room Restaurants to Individual Restaurants, I have pretty much worked for them all.
Focus on Marketing…
For me the most interesting part of any business whether that be a business I have worked with or have just come into contact with, is the branding and marketing. I love nothing more than clever slogans, beautiful packaging and creative thinking, it’s so exciting! For me branding has to cover every aspect of a business, from the emails that are sent out to customers, to the very end product and aftercare. A brand is everything!
Why restaurant marketing?
For the past 10 years I have focused solely on restaurant marketing, spending 6 of those years working for Individual Restaurants where I headed up the marketing department alongside the companies owner. IR is an umbrella company spanning 36+ sites covering the Piccolino, The Restaurant Bar & Grill, Gino D’Acampo My Restaurant & My Pasta Bar and Bank Restaurant & Bar, brands. I then moved on to work on rebranding a rapidly expanding Thai restaurant group called Chaophraya. Since then I have been working for myself with a number of of clients big and small.
I provide clients with as much or as little help as they need making the service completely bespoke. From helping them to set up and run social media accounts, to working on a new website, designing menus and other printed literature, to training sales and reception teams or even providing them with a fully staffed restaurant openings team. With experience at opening over 28 venues you could say, I’ve got it covered!
I like to provide each client with a shopping list of things that I can help them with so they can pick and chose each project according to their priorities and budgets. I am also available to work on a retainer if the project is large enough, I’m very flexible!
Healthy eating has become a passion of mine in recent years, following a bout of unsettled digestive health. It has become increasingly important for me to choose healthy options both in and out of the home. Let’s be totally honest, with the type 2 diabetes and obesity stats in the UK as high as they are, a lot more people should be concerned too. The mainstream restaurant industry falls short in most instances and is in a completely different business ‘universe’ to that of the health food movement. You come across many restaurant chefs who still hold out dated views and find it annoying to cater to vegetarians, never mind someone who suffers from coeliac disease. Its time to change and become better educated about nutrition and our bodies… otherwise it will kill us!
To further my knowledge in this area and become better informed, I recently completed a level 5 diploma in Nutritional Studies with the College For Nutrition. As a qualified nutritionist, I am now able to help individuals make better informed dietary changes as well as helping my clients provide better options for their restaurant diners.
